A new year, new choice, new places and new sights to see. I haven't been very good in keeping my blog up to date, but a new year also means new promises. This year has started off amazingly and a lot of mixed emotions along the way. Bad things, good things and crazy things have happened. Now it's already March, time does fly! I'm nearly off school for my Springbreak what I'm genuinely looking forward too because.... I am going to LAS VEGAS and the GRAND CANYON! To say I'm excited is an understatement :D I hope to post more frequently from now on for the last three months I still have here.

Een nieuw jaar, nieuwe keuze, nieuwe plaatsen om te zien en nieuwe mensen om te ontmoeten. Ik ben erg slecht geweest in het bij houden van mijn blog, maar een nieuw jaar betekent ook nieuwe beloften. Dit jaar is echt met een knal begonnen en ik heb tot nu toe echt genoten ook al waren niet alle dagen even mooi. Er zijn slechte dingen, goede dingen en gekke dingen gebeurd. Nu is het inmiddels maart, de tijd vliegt wanneer je het naar je zin hebt! School is bijna afgelopen voor eventjes want mijn Springbreak is om de hoek waar ik zeker naar uitkijk want .... Ik ga naar LAS VEGAS en de GRAND CANYON! Ik kan echt niet wachten, heb er echt enorm veel zin in! Hopelijk zal ik vaker wat posten want er zijn nog maar drie maanden die overblijven...

Well, a lot of time has passed since my last post and I’m really sorry about not staying up to date. But I have finally found the time to write a post to update all of you on the last two months. I have, as usual, experienced a lot of new things and had a lot of fun. So to cover all the exciting and American things I’ve done, I made a list and I’ll elaborate as we go along.

23/09/13 – I went with my friend, Laura, and Kevin and Rita to Huntington Beach. When we arrived the weather wasn’t that good but thankfully later on it took a turn and became really sunny. The sea was so beautiful, the colour was so clear that it looked unreal. We stayed there the whole weekend and I had a lot of fun and made a lot of memories (also acquired quite the tan ;p).

12/10/13 – HOMECOMING, my first American event. I really enjoyed the evening and had a great time. I had bought a dress and new shoes for the occasion, if you want to see some pictures just check out my Facebook. It was very different than I expected but nice, it wasn’t celebrated on big scale but we have Winter Formal in December which will be amazing. Now already looking forward to it ;)

19-20/10/13 – San Diego. I went with Rita and Kevin to San Diego to spend the weekend there. We left early in the morning and arrived early afternoon. Firstly, we visited San Diego Zoo and that took up our whole day. We looked everywhere and there were so many animals and things to see, we were definitely entertained the whole time. When I was there I also Skyped with the home front because they had their Halloween Dance and after a couple of tries, it worked. I talked very briefly to them and it was great seeing everyone in their costume. The second day we really didn’t do too much but it was mainly because we were rather tired from all the walking that we did in the zoo.

31/10/13 - Halloween, the typical American holiday. I was really looking forward to celebrating this because we hardly celebrate it in the Netherlands and America is really well known for going big for this day. Anyways, I had bought a matching costume with my friend (we were Batman and Robin) and we went dressed up to school because it was a Thursday. At school, everyone told us we looked amazing and that our costumes were the best. Everyone was really nice and there were definitely some really cool costumes throughout the whole school. In the evening I went trick-or-treating with my friend and her niece, which was a lot of fun. At first it felt very weird just walking up to people’s houses but everyone was really nice and I got the hang of it pretty soon. I received a lot of sweets and had a lot of fun on Halloween. Definitely something we should enforce in Holland!

Now, Thanksgiving has just passed and then my Winter Formal and Christmas will follow soon. It’s probably going to take a while before I post again so that’s why I wish everyone a great Christmas, Sinterklaas and what else everyone is doing.

Nou, het is alweer een aardige poos geleden sinds mijn laatste bericht, en ik zal toegeven dat ik het niet heel erg goed heb bijgehouden. Maar ik heb nu eindelijk de tijd gevonden om wat te schrijven dus hier is mijn post over de afgelopen twee maanden. Zoals gewoonlijk heb ik ontzettend veel nieuwe en leuke dingen gedaan waar ik nu over ga vertellen. Dus ik heb een lijstje gemaakt en ik zal over elke gebeurtenis vertellen zodat ik niks vergeet.

23/09/13 – Ik ben met mijn vriendin, Laura, en Kevin en Rita naar Huntington Beach geweest. Toen wij daar aan kwamen was het weer erg slecht maar gelukkig veranderde dat later op de dag en wij hadden geweldig mooi weer. De zee was ontzettend mooi, de kleur was zo helder dat het niet echt leek maar net een schilderij. Wij bleven daar twee dagen en het was super leuk en ik heb zeker herinneringen gemaakt die ik niet snel zal vergeten (ben ook wat bruiner geworden;p).

12/10/13 – HOMECOMING, mijn eerste echt Amerikaanse event. Het was erg leuk en ik heb het erg naar mijn zin gehad. Ik had een nieuwe jurk en schoenen gekocht voor het feest, als je het nog niet gezien hebt kan je het opzoeken op mijn Facebook-account. Het was anders dan ik had verwacht maar wel erg leuk, het was niet heel erg groot gevierd maar daar hebben wij Winter Formal voor waar ik ontzettend veel zin in heb!

19-20/10/13 – San Diego. Ik ben samen met Kevin en Rita naar San Diego geweest voor een weekendje. Wij vertrokken vroeg in de ochtend en kwamen daar aan rond de vroege middag. Als eerst gingen wij naar San Diego Zoo en dat nam onze hele dag in beslag. Wij zijn door de hele dierentuin gelopen en wij hebben alle dieren gezien, het was echt super gaaf en het weer was fantastisch. Toen ik daar was heb ik ook met het thuisfront geskyped omdat hun een Halloween dans hadden ik iedereen in kostuum was en het was erg leuk om met iedereen te praten en eventjes kort te zien. De tweede dag deden wij niet heel erg veel omdat wij voornamelijk erg moe waren van al het lopen in de dierentuin, en zo kwam dit geweldige weekend tot een einde.

31/10/13 - Halloween, een typisch Amerikaans feest. Ik keek echt uit naar deze dag omdat wij het nauwlijks vieren in Nederland maar het echt heel erg groot gevierd wordt in Amerika. Ik had van te voren al een kostuum met mijn vriendin gekocht ( wij waren Batman & Robin) en wij gingen in kostuum naar school omdat het een gewone lesdag was. Heel veel mensen op school waren ook in kostuum en het zag er allemaal zo vet uit, mensen kwamen ook naar ons en zeiden dat we er echt leuk uitzagen en dat wij de coolste kostuums hadden. Iedereen was echt super aardig en toen in de avond ging ik trick-or-treating met mijn vriendin en haar nicht, wat ook heel erg leuk was. Ik heb veel snoep gekregen en het was een onvergetelijke Halloween. Zeker weten iets wat wij ook in Nederland zouden moeten doen!

Het is net Thanksgiving geweest en mijn Winter Formal gala en Kerst zal snel volgen. Wat gaat de tijd toch snel! Het zal waarschijnlijk ook weer erg lang duren voordat ik wat post dus daarom wens ik iedereen nu al een geweldige Kerst, Sinterklaas of andere activiteiten die jullie gaan doen.

Ik zit nu al bijna drie weken in Desert Hot Springs en ben bezig in mijn tweede week van school. Ik heb al zoveel nieuwe dingen meegemaakt! Ik heb Pop tarts gegeten, ben naar mijn eerste American football-wedstrijd geweest, heb een ‘Root beer-float’ gehad, heb de herdenking van 9/11 meegemaakt en ben naar de bioscoop geweest. The lessen hier zijn heel erg interessant en informatief. Ik heb voor mijn eerste Engels toets het hoogste van de klas gehaald (44 van de 50), wat een A+ is!!! Alle leraren zijn heel erg aardig en behulpzaam. Ik heb echt geweldig nieuws, dus houdt je vast: IK SNAP MIJN WISKUNDE! Ik kan het zelf echt niet geloven maar het is de waarheid, haha. Alle leerlingen hier zijn heel erg vriendelijk en grappig. Meeste van hun vragen aan mij waarom ik hier ben (op een een aardige manier) en ik zweer, het is alleen maar zo omdat ik levende entertainment voor hun ben. Zodra ik mijn mond open doe en zij mijn accent horen, reageren ze met ‘Omg, where you from?’ ‘I love your accent.’ Ik heb ook al een paar liefdesverklaringen gekregen en directe best friend verzoeken ALLEEN maar door mijn accent. Echt, het is net alsof je het meest populaire persoon bent. Ik heb het ook heel erg naar mijn zin met Rita en Kevin. Ze zijn heel erg aardig en behulpzaam en helpen mij met alles regelen en zorgen dat ik alles heb. Ook al mis ik Nederland heel erg (familie, vrienden, huisdieren, fietsen, en alles er tussen in), ze zijn hier heel erg aardig tegen mij en ik heb het heel erg naar mijn zin. Mijn eerste schooldag was echt het ergst omdat ik heel erg eenzaam was en niemand kende, maar nu heb ik een groepje en ik ken wel een paar mensen in al mijn lessen dus nu gaat het goed. Ik zal proberen jullie zo goed mogelijk op de hoogte te houden maar mijn volgende update zal waarschijnlijk pas over een week of twee zijn, het ligt eraan wat er in de tussen tijd gebeurd. Laat mij horen hoe jullie eerste dagen waren en hoe het nu met jullie gaat. Ik vind het ook super leuk om van jullie te horen!

I have now been nearly three weeks in Desert Hot Springs and in my second week of school. I have already experienced so many new things! I have had Pop tarts, been to my first football game, had a Root beer-float, had to write ‘government’ instead of ‘gouvernment’, experienced the remembrance of 9/11 in America and went to the cinema. The lessons at school are very interesting and informative. I got the best grade of the class for our first English test (44 out of 50) which meant I had an A+!!! All the teachers are very nice and helpful. I also have big news, everyone hold on: I UNDERSTAND MY MATHS! I’m literally mind-blown but I really get it, haha. The students here are very welcoming and so funny. Most of them ask me why I’m here (nicely meant) and I can swear you, it’s just to entertain them. As soon as I open my mouth and they hear my accent, they’re like ‘Omg, where you from?’ ‘I love your accent.” And I’ve also had some love confessions and immediate best friend requests ONLY because I have an accent. I swear, it’s like being the coolest kid around. Also, I’m having a great time with Rita and Kevin. They are so good to me and help me along with everything and make sure I have all my stuff together. Even though I miss everyone in Holland (family, friends, pets, bikes, every nook and cranny on the street), the treat me here amazing and everyone’s so nice and I’m having a great time. The first day was the worst, it was incredibly lonely and I didn’t know anyone, but now I’m settled in with people and I know at least one person in my classes now so I’m good. I will try and keep you up to date as often as I can but the next post will probably be in a week or two, just depends on what happens in the mean time. Desert Hot Springs

Zoals meeste van jullie al weten: Ik ben gearriveerd in Desert Hot Springs! Het is hier echt geweldig en Rita en Kevin zijn echt heel erg aardig en behulpzaam. Ik heb nu al aardig wat nieuwe dingen gedaan zoals American biscuits en pancakes eten voor ontbijt, post opsturen naar Europa zonder in Europa te zijn en mezelf inschrijven voor een school. Ik zal jullie nu allemaal vertellen wat ik de afgelopen dagen heb gedaan. Zondag heb ik met de familie geSkypt en ben wezen winkelen in de grootste supermarkt die ik OOIT heb gezien! Ze hadden zoveel verschillende keuzes ijs, het was net een hemel. In de middag gingen wij naar Rita's werk: de Ralph Lauren winkel in de Premium Outlet winkelcentrum. Rita moest werken en ik en Kevin gingen in allemaal winkels kijken. Jeetje, sommige winkels waren zo ongelofelijk duur! Mijn oogballen vielen bijna uit mijn hoofd toen ik de prijzen zag op de tassen van Coach. Toen Rita klaar was gingen wij uiteten en toen was het maandag. Maandag moest ik een prik krijgen (ugh...) die TDAP heet. Het was snel gedaan en daarna gingen wij nog in wat andere winkels. Om drie uur hadden wij een afspraak met de school, Desert Hot Springs High School aka DHSHS, dus wij gingen daarnaar toe, alleen maar om er achter te komen dat er een elektriciteitsstoring was en zij niets voor ons konden regelen. Zij verzochten ons vriendelijk om de volgende dag te komen, wat wij ook deden ;) Deze twee dagen was het weer niet heel erg mooi, ik bedoel dan rond de 25 graden, maar het regende voornamelijk veel waardoor wegen werden afgesloten omdat ze waren overspoeld. Ach ja, maar dinsdag en vandaag was het weer prachtig! Dinsdag gingen wij naar Walmart (Ze hebben daar echt letterlijk ALLES) en daarna gingen wij weer naar school, met deze keer wat betere resultaten. Er was iemand die mij hielp met vakken kiezen en wat ze zelf aanraden voor mij, wat wel heel erg handig was. Ik heb ook gelijk mijn schoolboeken gekregen, en Jezus wat zijn die zwaar! En het zijn er maar vijf!!! Ik kreeg ook nog andere informatie over Prom , Home coming en Graduation. Blijkbaar wordt een van de feesten in de bergen gegeven, wat Kevin en Rita mij echt aanraden, en voor Graduation celebration gaan wij naar Disneyland!!! Mijn eerste schooldag is volgende week dinsdag, 3 september. Het gaat nu echt gebeuren! Daarna gingen wij naar Target om school spullen te kopen en ook naar Barnes & Noble. Ik denk dat ik mijn nieuwe woonplek heb gevonden. We hadden ook een goede deal gevonden voor een mobiel die wij vandaag hebben gekocht. Vandaag gingen wij ook naar het postkantoor dus wat post moet/ zal misschien jullie kant op komen, als het goed is. Na dat wij de mobiel hadden gekocht, heb ik nog een jurk gekocht en bijna twintig dollars bespaard. Ik weet niet wat wij voor de rest van de week gaan doen maar ik zal jullie op de hoogte houden!

Well, as most of you know by now: I have arrived in Desert Hot Springs! I am having a great time here and Rita and Kevin are so nice. Also, I have tried a lot of new things already like American biscuits and pancakes, sending post to Europe while not being in it myself and signing myself into an American school. I will tell you all what I have been doing the last couple of days. Sunday I Skyped with the family and went grocery shopping in the biggest shop I have ever seen! They also had loads of different kinds of ice-cream so it was like heaven. Then in the afternoon we went to Rita’s work: the Ralph Lauren store in Premium Outlet Shopping centre. Rita went off to interview someone, doing her work basically, and I and Kevin walked around and looked at the other stores. Jeez, there are some expensive things over there! My eyeballs nearly fell out when we walked into Coach and I looked at the price tags. We also had dinner and then it was Monday. Monday I had to have an injection done (ugh…) which was the TDAP. But I got over it quickly and we went into other shops. At three o’clock we went to the Desert Hot Springs High School, which from now will be known as DHSHS because it’s an insanely long word! When I and Kevin arrived (Rita still had to finish up her work) the whole school was dark so we went in to find people, only to find out that they had a power shortage. So they kindly requested if we could come back tomorrow, which of course we did ;) In these two days there weather was really bad (well, probably around the 25 degrees but, you know what I mean) and it had rained quite a bit as well. This was rather unfortunate because there were roads closed off because of the floods. So yeah, but Tuesday and today have been lovely! Tuesday we went to Walmart (IT IS SOOOOO MASSIVE), they have literally everything in this store, it’s insane! I bought some shower stuff because I had only brought mini’s with me and they were nearly empty. Then we went back to school, the three of us, and now everything looked a lot livelier. Someone helped us with choosing my subjects and what would be the best options (apparently I’m not a real problem because to graduate you need 225 credits, and I probably already have 210 *angelface*). I also received my school books and a lot of other information on the school but also on being a senior. Apparently one of my dances is held up in the mountains, which Kevin and Rita immediately said I would enjoy, and for graduation celebration we are going to Disneyland!!! By the way, my first day of school is the third of September. They also talked about Prom and Homecoming and getting your cap and robe, it sounds so cool and official. Then after that we went to Target to buy my school stuff and we went into Barnes & Noble. I think I can safely say that I have found my new home residence. We also found a good deal for a phone so I bought that one today. Today we also went to the post office so post could/ should be coming your way. After that we went to the shopping centre where I bought the phone and a new dress (on which I save nearly twenty bucks!). I’m not sure what I will be doing the rest of the week but I will keep all of you posted!

Nou, ik kan het eindelijk ook zeggen: ik ben in NEW YORK CITY! Het is echt zo geweldig en mooi. The vlucht hiernaar toe ging heel erg goed en er was genoeg te doen dus ik verveelde me helemaal niet. Ik zat ook nog naast twee meiden en heb ook lekker met hun gekletst. Toen wij geland waren moesten wij onze baggage ophalen en nog door een landbeveiliging. In het hotel gebeurde er niet veel, wij moesten tot 6 uur wachten en toen gingen wij avond eten. Daarna waren wij zo moe dat wij gelijk naar bed zijn gegaan en dat was om kwart over 8 (!!!) en ik werd weer om half 5 wakker. Vandaag zijn wij langs Central Park gereden, eigenlijk zouden wij daar een tour krijgen maar omdat het weer zo slecht was ging dat niet door ;( Wij zijn wel door de stad heen gereden en hebben veel beroemde gebouwen gezien. Wij zijn ook naarSoho, the Brooklyn Bridge (en ijs gehaald)en the Hard Rock Cafe geweest. Maar natuurlijk, niet te vergeten: Times Square. De lichten zijn prachtig en er hangt echt een geweldige sfeer. Het was heel erg gezellig! Ik wil echt weer een keer terug zodat ik het allemaal weer kan herbeleven. Morgen gaan wij helemaal naar de top van The Rock, een boot reis maken, naar Coney Island en natuurlijk: het Vrijheidsbeeld. Ik kan niet wachten! Ik zal jullie allemaal op de hoogte houden en de foto's volgen nog!

Well, I am live in NEW YORK CITY! It is so amazing here and the city is brilliant. The flight to Newark went really easy, there was a lot to do so I wasn't bored and I was sat next to two girls so we chatted a lot as well. Then we had to go to pick up our luggage and go to another border security check. When we arrived at the hotel we didn't do a lot anymore. We had to wait till 6 and that's when we had dinner and afterwards we were so tired that we went immediately to bed which was around quater past eight (!!!) and I woke up half past four in the morning. Then today, thursday, we went past Central park. We would normally visit it but because the weather was very bad in the morning that didn't happen ;( Then we drove through the city and passed a lot of famous buildings. We also visited Soho, the Brooklyn Bridge and had ice-cream and the Hard Rock Cafe and last but not least: Times Square. It literally illuminates at night and it looked so enchanting. I loved today and I hope to return sometime soon to re-visit it all again! Tomorrow we are going to the top of The Rock, do a boat trip, visit Coney Island and ofcourse: see Lady Liberty. Can't wait! I'll keep you all up to date with everything and I promise that the photos soon will follow.

Nou, het is vanaf vandaag precies een week tot ik weg ga. Het is heel erg raar om te denken dat over één week ik in Amerika zal zijn. Ik heb de afgelopen weken genoten van Spanje en van mijn verjaardag. Op de dag zelf moest mijn zusje werken dus ik heb het niet ECHT die dag gevierd maar meer de dag erna. Het was heel erg gezellig en ik wil iedereen nog bedanken voor de cadeautjes, ook al hebben jullie ze misschien al 14 juli gegeven. Ik heb ook woensdag 7 augustus Marit nog uitgezwaaid op Schiphol en toen besefte ik zelf ook dat het echt bijna mijn beurt was. Ik ben nu voornamelijk bezig met het inpakken en klaar maken voor de reis. Het is echt een lange lijst maar het lukt wel. Wij hebben ook vandaag nog wat vrienden uit Engeland die overkomen dus dat is ook heel erg gezellig. Deze post is kort maar krachtig en dat komt eigenlijk door het feit dat ik niet veel meer hoef te doen voor ik weg ga. The quiet before the storm ;) Jullie zullen zeker weer snel van mij horen maar waarschijnlijk wanneer ik in Amerika ben. Dus dit is mijn laatste post in Nederland. Ook al heb ik sommige van jullie niet meer in de afgelopen weken gesproken, veel plezier volgend jaar en geniet van de vakantie!

Well, it is exactly one week from today when I leave. It’s very strange to think that in a week I will be in America. I have enjoyed the last few weeks in Spain and celebrating my birthday. Jessie had to work on the day of my actual birthday so I didn’t REALLY celebrate it that day but more the next day instead. I had a great time and I want to thank everyone for the presents, even if you gave them on my party which was the 14th of July. Wednesday, the 7th of August, I went to Schiphol to say good-bye to Marit and that’s also when I realized myself that it was nearly my turn. I am now mainly busy with packing my suitcase and getting ready for the trip. I wrote a really long list with everything that I need to take but I’m slowly getting there. We are also having some friends from England come over today and I’m really looking forward spending time with them. This post is kind-of short and sweet because the reality is that there isn’t a lot to tell. I have only really started getting ready this week and for the rest I have told you what has happened. You will definitely be hearing from me again sometime soon but it will probably be when I'm in America! So this is my last post in the Netherlands or Holland. Even though I haven’t spoken to some of you recently, I hope that you’ll have a lot of fun next year and enjoy the rest of your holidays!

California, Here I Come!

Er is veel gebeurd in de afgelopen paar weken! Zoals gewoonlijk veel gewerkt en zoals er in mijn vorige post staat, heb ik mijn visum gekregen en mijn geslaagd/verjaardags /afscheidsfeest gevierd. Ik zal beginnen met mijn visum als eerst en dan de rest in volgorde van data:

2013/02/07 ~ Deze dag heb ik gezellig doorgebracht met mijn moeder in Den Haag en we hebben samen heerlijk gewinkeld. Ons doel was om een koffer, bepaalde kledingstukken en een nieuw paar sportschoenen te kopen en dat hebben wij zeker bereikt! Het was erg leuk en ik heb lekker van mijn werk-vrije dag genoten.

09-07-2013 ~ Ik ging met mijn moeder in de auto naar Amsterdam, waar het Amerikaanse Consulaat is en waar ik dus naartoe moest om mijn visum te halen. Travel Active had een groep studenten gevormd waarmee wij naar binnen moesten (dus als een groep) wat ik wel fijn vond want ik was in ieder geval was niet alleen. Het weer was mooi dus buiten was geen probleem, maar langzamerhand begonnen de zenuwen erger te worden! Toen ik eindelijk naar binnen mocht (vraag mij niet hoe, maar ik was stond helemaal vooraan in de rij wat echt verschrikkelijk was want ik had geen idee waar ik naar toe moest!) moesten wij eerst langs de bewakers. Alle bewakers waren erg aardig en ze begonnen een heel gesprek met je maar ik stond daar maar glimlachen en knikken als een gek want ik was aardig gestrest. We kregen daarna een nummer en we moesten wachten in een kamer totdat wij werden opgeroepen, de perfecte tijd om te praten met de andere studenten en jezelf een beetje te kalmeren. Na een poosje werd ik opgeroepen en werd doorverwezen naar een hokje waar een vrouw zat met een erg sterk Spaans-achtige accent, met gevolg dat ik haar nauwelijks kon verstaan! Echt wat je wilt op zo’n moment als dat... Ze vroeg mij om allemaal verschillende soorten informatie bladen dus ik had haar alles wat ik vast had vriendelijk naar haar gedouwd en vriendelijk geglimlacht zodat ik niet vijf keer hoefde te vragen of ze de vraag kon herhalen, ik moest zelfs mijn vingertoppen laten scannen (!!!) Daarna moest ik weer wachten tot mijn nummer opnieuw werd opgeroepen. Na een lange tijd werd ik naar voren geroepen naar een ander hokje en daar zat een hele aardige vrouw die ik wel makkelijk kon begrijpen (God zij dank). Later bleek dat ze uit LA kwam en ze wist precies waar ik heen ging en ik heb heel gezellig nog met haar gekletst. Ik verliet het gebouw met een goed gevoel en met het blije nieuws dat ik mijn visum zou ontvangen per post in 2 of 3 dagen.

14-07-2013 ~ Eindelijk was het zo ver, de dag van mijn pas / verjaardag / afscheidsfeest en ik had er echt zo veel zin in! In de ochtend zag het weer er niet veelbelovend uit maar uiteindelijk hadden we prachtig weer en ik liep rond in mijn zomerjurkje. Toen de gasten arriveerde was het gelijk erg gezellig en ik heb echt zo hard gelachen. Ik denk niet dat ik ooit zo veel drop als verjaardagscadeau heb gekregen, haha. Daarna heeft Jessie nog foto’s van mij en iedereen die er was gemaakt (ze staan ook op mijn Facebook-account voor de mensen die ze willen zien) en ik heb het erg naar mijn zin gehad. Hoewel ook het jank-filmpje aanwezig was, was ik nog steeds in een fantastische bui, maar dat was ook omdat iedereen was veel minder emotioneel was vergeleken met de eerste keer dat we hem zagen. Ik kon niet voor een beter feestje wensen!

Ik werk nu veel, omdat volgende week zal mijn laatste week bij Zeeman. Ja mensen, de tijd vliegt als je lol hebt! De twee maanden zijn echt voorbij gevlogen en ik heb weer veel nieuwe dingen erbij geleerd. Ik ben nu vooral met veel vriendinnen aan het afspreken voor ik weg ga en dan lekker genieten van elkaars gezelschap, dus het is erg druk, maar wel erg gezellig ;)

27-07-2013 om 2013/03/08 ~ Ik vertrek deze zaterdag naar Spanje voor een weekje, naar mijn Abuela, want zij komt over met Kerst maar dan ben ik er niet en op deze manier kan ik haar toch nog zien voordat ik weg ga. Ook mijn lieve vriendin Joyce komt gezellig met mij mee dus wij zullen allebei van het Spaanse weer genieten. Bij Los Aqueros (het huis van mijn oma) zal het echt heel erg warm zijn dus waarschijnlijk zullen wij alleen maar aan het strand of bij het zwembad liggen. Ik kom echt terug met een kleurtje! (Haha ja, eerst zien dan geloven Sofi…)

05-08-2013 ~ Dan twee dagen nadat ik terug kom is het mijn verjaardag! Ja mensen, ik wordt (samen met Marit) 17 jaar oud. Mijn geluksgetal, dus dit is een heel bijzonder jaar en ik had het ook niet beter kunnen plannen om mijn jaartje High School in dit jaar te doen.

Ik beloof dat ik jullie allemaal op de hoogte zal houden van alles voordat ik echt weg naar Amerika ga, en ook nieuwe foto’s zal toevoegen. Zij hadden trouwens mijn blog nog gevonden en ze wilde iedereen bedanken voor jullie positieve en lieve berichtjes ;) Ik zie jullie weer in een paar weekjes!

A lot has happened in these past couple of weeks! I have worked a lot as usual and in the time that has past, I have received my visa and have celebrated my graduation / birthday / farewell party. I will start with my visa as first and then the rest in order of date:

02-07-2013 ~ I spent the day with my mum in The Hague and we had a nice shopping trip together.Our main goal was to buy a suitcase, certain clothing items and a new pair of trainers and we definitely achieved that! It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed my day off from work.

09-07-2013 ~ I went with my mum by car to Amsterdam where the American Consulate is and I had to go in to get my visa. Travel Active had arranged a group appointment and we had to go inside together so at least I wasn't alone. The weather was lovely so standing outside was not a problem but as we all stood there in the heat, the nerves slowly were starting to grow! When I was finally inside (do not ask how, but I was stood at the front which I hate because I never know what to do!) And all the guards were very kind to me talking but I just stood there smiling and nodding like crazy. We were given a number and we had to wait in a room until we were called up, the perfect time to chat with the other students and just calm ourselves down.I was called up and was directed to a booth where a woman was sitting with a very strong Spanish-like accent, I could hardly understand what she was saying! Really what you wanted at a time like that ... She asked my for all different kinds of information sheets so I just kindly passed her all of them so I wouldn't have to ask her to repeat the question five times, I even had to scan my fingerprints (!!!) and then I had to wait again. Then after a long-ish time I was called to another booth and the woman there was very nice and I could easily understand her (Thank god). Later it turned out that she came from LA and she knew exactly where I was going and I had a nice little chat with her. I left the building in a good mood with the happy news that my visa would arrive by post in 2 to 3 days.

14-07-2013 ~ Finally it was time, the day of my graduation/ birthday / farewell party and I was so excited! In the morning the weather didn't look very promising but in the end we had lovely weather and I walked around in a summer dress. When the guests arrived it was very cozy and I had a lot of fun. I don't think I have ever received so many presents that were liquorice as a gift, haha. Then I also had pictures taken with everyone who was there (they are on my Facebook account for those who want to see them) and I just had an amazing time. Even though I also showed the tearjerker of a film I made with my friend, I was still in a fantastic mood but also because everyone was way less emotional than the first time we watched it. I could not have wished for better party!

I am now working a lot because next week will be my last week at Zeeman. Yes people, time flies when you're having fun! The two months have passed and I have enjoyed myself a lot and learned a lot of new things as well. I am now meeting up with a lot of my friends before I leave and just enjoy each other's company, so it's very busy but a lot of fun ;)

27-07-2013 to 03-08-2013 ~ I'm leaving this Saturday to go to Spain for a week, to my Abuela, because she will come for Christmas and by then I will be gone so I won't see her otherwise and my dear friend Joyce is coming along as well. At Los Aqueros it will be boiling so we'll probably just lie on the beach or at the pool. I am going to be sooooo tanned when I get back! (Haha I don’t believe myself yet ....)

05-08-2013 ~ Then two days when I go back it's my BIRTHDAY!! Yes people, I will (along with Marit) be 17 years old. My lucky number, so this is a really special year and it couldn’t have worked out better for it to be my High School year.

I promise that I will keep you all up to date before I leave to keep you all informed and add pictures if Rita and Kevin send them to me. They had found my blog and they wanted to thank everyone for your positive and kind messages ;) I will see you again in a week or two!

My Lasts and Firsts

Nou, deze week was ENORM druk, ik moest de hele week werken... Als eerst wil ik zeggen: YESSSSSS IK BEN GESLAAGD! Ik heb dit geweldige nieuws tussen half en kwart voor 12 gekregen op woensdag ochtend 26 juni. Het was nogal een gedoe want de school zou eigenlijk pas om 1 uur bellen en toen was ik klaar met mijn werk en kon ik lekker zelf thuis zitten maar opeens veranderde dat in 11 uur! Dus terwijl ik moest werken mocht ik mijn mobiel erbij houden en terwijl ik een klant aan het helpen was ging mijn mobiel dus ik snel gezegd: 'Ik word vandaag gebeld voor de uitslag van mijn herkansing en dit is het waarschijnlijk, vindt U het erg als ik opneem?' Vond de klant niet erg (hele aardige vrouw) en mijn collega nam snel over terwijl ik opnam. Het was mijn vader die mij verlosste met het nieuws dat ik inderdaad geslaagd was!

Toen de dag erna, donderdag, had ik mijn diplomauitreiking wat ook erg gezellig was en onze mentrix ging over elke leerling die geslaagd was (van onze klas) wat vertellen maar waar het op neer kwam is dat wij onze diploma kregen! Toen had ik vrijdag weer een drukke dag want ik moest in de ochtend werken en in de middag had mijn vriendin die ook naar Amerika gaat haar geslaagd/verjaardags/afscheidfeest. Het was heel erg leuk en gezellig! Aan het einde van het feestje lieten wij nog ons filmpje zien die we samen hebben gemaakt over de mensen die we het meeste gaan missen en al onze vriendinnen moesten huilen ( I love you, girls!!!!). Het was wel echt een speciale avond.

Dan zaterdag had ik mijn laatste paardrijles, wat ook erg jammer is. Ik heb ook al twee keer met Rita en Kevin geskypt en het zijn echt hele aardige mensen. Het begint nu toch wel een beetje te dagen dat het eind(of begin) wel in zicht komt. Ik ga 9 juli mijn visum ophalen, wat wel spannend gaat worden en dan die week ook nog mijn eigen geslaagd/verjaardags/afscheidsfeest wat ik moet plannen en regelen dus waarschijnlijk horen jullie in een weekje of twee weer van mij!

My English Summary

Well, this week was extremly hectic, I had to work the whole week ... Firstly, I want to say that: YESSSSSS I HAVE PASSED MY EXAMS! I received this great news around half past eleven and a quarter to twelve, on Wednesday morning June 26. It was quite a hassle because the school would actually call at 1 in the afternoon, which meant that I had finished my work by then and I could go home and pick up the phone myself but suddenly the time was changed to 11 in the morning! So while I had to work I was allowed to keep my phone there and while I was helping a customer entered my mobile so I quickly said, "I am today close to me, just in case someone called. While I was stood at the till my mobile rang and I quickly explained my situation as my colleague quickly took over while I answered. It was my father who delivered the great news that I had indeed passed my exams!

Then the next day, Thursday, I had my graduation ceremony which was also very nice and our assigend class teacher talked about every student that had passed their exams (in our class) but, to the point, we signed and finally got our certificates! Friday I had another busy day because I had to work in the morning and in the afternoon I had a party from my friend who is also going to America, it was called her graduation/ birthday / farewell party. It was very nice and there were a lot of lovely people! At the end of the party we showed the guests the movie we made about the people we are going to miss the most all of all and our friends had to cry (I love you, girls!!). It was a very special evening.

Then Saturday I had my last horse riding lesson, which is was really sad as well. I have also Skypt twice with Rita and Kevin and they are really nice people. It now starting to dawn on me that now the end (or beginning) is in sight. I'm going to get my visa on July 9, which is going to be interesting and then in that week I also have my own graduation / birthday / farewell party for which I still have to do a lot of planing and arranging for so you will probably hear from me in a week or two!
